Timber framed, aluminium clad composite windows were chosen to replace over 1000 existing single glazed units. The new windows were selected for their low maintenance externally and pleasant appearance internally. Thermal insulation and preventing solar gain was a high priority as the existing units caused spaces to heat up drastically when exposed to sunlight while being draughty and causing significant heat losses on cold days. Existing areas of single glazed curtain walling were also replaced with more thermally efficient aluminium framed double glazed units.
